- White Man's Greed -

The soldiers rode their horses fast
Toward the reservation
The braves had gone to hunt for food
The soldiers were 'advanc'n'

The tepees stood tall each eye to eye
The Northern Star was in the sky
All the children fast asleep
Their mothers weary no food to eat
The braves had gone to hunt for food
The soldiers knew just what to do

They aimed their cannon from the hills
The fuses were lit – the earth she stood still
The children they cried
Their mothers they died
The generals were 'a-pranc'n'

Now the chief's young son
He was just barely two
My Lord, oh God, what could he do?
The braves had gone to hunt for food
The soldiers knew just what to do

When the chief came home
He found his young wife
She'd been raped and stabbed
By a soldier's knife

High in the sky an eagle did fly
Looking down he asked himself, why?
All they wanted was to be left alone
To hunt and fish – to keep their tepees warm

Their land was sacred and the air was clean
But the white-man's greed destroyed their dreams
The braves had gone to hunt for food
The soldiers knew just what to do

Abandoned is the second free E-book I have written and published. Although it is a work of historical fiction, it grew out of the many experiences that I write about in Krishna and the Art of Bicycle Maintenance. The way my second book was written I gave myself the perfect opportunity through an amazing story and a cast of characters to bring meaning to so many questions. What happens after death? Is the soul eternal? Can love reach beyond this world? Can God’s mercy appear in ways we do not expect? And, what is the most important thing that I should know? Abandoned also includes a powerful Near Death Experience, that is such a popular subject today.

You are also more than welcome to read either book as my guest. No e-mail required; no ads; nothing to do but enjoy reading it. Click here: Abandoned.

Note: This link - "Abandoned" - can always be found at the top of each page on our menu. You are currently visiting www.KrishnaDisasterRelief.com. This is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that I founded in 1990. I cannot afford an expensive website for each of my books, so I used the title of my 2nd book as a portal where people can access what I have written. Although you can read either book on any device, your best reading experience is on a desktop or laptop computer. It also reads nicely on my tablet, if I turn it sideways.

If you prefer, I have published both book on Amazon paperback. All proceeds are donated to Krishna Disaster Relief. Our representative is currently on the ground in Venezuela, providing disaster relief to as many people as we can reach.
