Chapter 28 - Looking for Gold
Years ago I had a rather remarkable experience. I was visiting two friends who had just moved into their new home; a small cabin in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado. After spending the night we woke up to a beautiful morning and decided to go exploring. The entire area was full of abandoned gold mines from the past and our decision to do this seemed to spark a lot of enthusiasm. After breakfast we set off on our way, each feeling the excitement about what was lying in store for us.
We left right after breakfast and after venturing down long forgotten tunnels, climbing over mountains and looking thru the remnants of old mining camps; daylight was turning into dusk. I remember how even after all of that exploring I still had so much energy that I even ran down this old dirt road we were on.
After dinner I was simply struck with wonder by all my energy. Instead of a forty-three year old man huffing and puffing, I felt as strong as I did when I was a teenager. We all did (I am now 79).
Whenever something profound happens to me, I try to understand it. I enjoy thinking about my life and how it works. Is there a lesson to be learned? The number one question I asked myself was: “Where in the world did all my energy come from?” The answer to this question is fascinating. The answer also has a place in this book.
For each of us, waking up full of energy and experiencing this throughout the day is the result of something very natural; not because of pills, fruit juice, elixirs, or potions. Rather, this energy is the result of doing something that is very interesting; that is: HIGHLY INTERESTING.
This is what unlocks our energy and there is nothing like it in the world. Because the three of us were so interested in exploring all those old mining camps, it was as if an energy switch had been thrown on inside each of us. Being HIGHLY INTERESTING is the key.
This is what I like most about Krishna Disaster Relief. Not only is it a direct link to the most interesting person (Lord Krishna) but that how it is also the perfect and natural outlet for anyone to express their love and kindness towards others, and to achieve the appreciation and love that Srila Prabhupada's great dream dream was all about). As I hope you are becoming more aware now, Krishna Disaster Relief is HIGHLY INTERESTING.
In so many ways I find this fact to be one of the most important and powerful aspects of Krishna Disaster Relief. It is extremely interesting and when you combine this with the fact that everyone loves heroes, what I see is an unstoppable combination of forces that will result in a great victory for for all of us.
