Twin Typhoons Hit The Philippines

A few days ago Krishna Disaster Relief became aware of two back-to-back typhoons that just swept through the Philippines. We heard that it was one of the largest typhoons in history. Naturally it took us a couple of days to sort through everything to establish contact with a person on the ground (Rolando R. Agustin) who then sent us these devastating pictures. From what he said the most pressing need is uncontaminated water to drink and cook with. Rolando (Gopal Krishna das) said that they have rice and beans to cook but the lack of water is the biggest problem
Immediately, the next morning, Krishna Disaster Relief successfully sent funds to him via our PayPal account that are now being directly used.
“...We are extremely grateful for any and all assistance and donation we receive. And this is indeed a big help here in the Philippines. I would like to confirm that I received the funds you have sent.”
Krishna Disaster Relief is an IRS designated 501(c)(3) non-profit charity and we are asking you to send a check or PayPal donation to Krishna Disaster Relief. Our PayPal account can be found under KrishnaDisasterRelief@gmail.com.

All of this took place just just over a year ago, and yes, I did make it back to Texas safely and in April of 2025 I hired a lawyer to obtain for Krishna Disaster Relief our IRS-501(c)(3) non-profit status. This was granted to us in August. However, memories of Hurricane Helene are still fresh in my mind and I remember telling myself at the time that if ever possible, to send a donation to help with the recovery efforts that were so desperately needed . After all this is what Krishna Disaster Relief is all about.
I am now happy to report that today (Friday, November 21st and 14 months later) I sent that donation, payable to the "Mennonite Disaster Service." I have listened to two reports on the recovery work that the Mennonites are still performing in North Carolina and I also remember how leaving the farm on that first trip after the Hurricane, that we saw the Mennonite's free mobile food service in action, located at the only grocery store in Lake Lure. It would be weeks later that the grocery store finally opened.
